It is from nature that I draw my inspiration, and nature is the very element that dominates my work. I enjoy and spend time watching the clouds or the glowing reflections on plants; and when I work I let all the images I have absorbed emerge through my memory. It was in such a way that I conceived the video-environment for the Museum of Cycladic Art in 1999; a symmetrical box, perforated and set within the changing nature. The processed image evolves in a similar way to my thoughts. It was the realization of an old idea I had had in the 70s. Over the years this idea went through a series of revisions; the use of slides evolved into a video projection and a digitally processed image. But this is in line with my work, where the sparkle of the fire is mentally transformed into the bright green colours of spring and revival. |
